Thank you to all our bowlers for your patience as we work through the growing pains of this season’s big changes and new formats. Like Belle figuring out how to live with a Beast (or at least a new scoring system), we’re ironing things out one enchanted rose petal at a time. Your support means everything.
Cellar Week Rewind
We hope everyone made the most of last week’s Cellar Week matches! Hopefully it gave everyone a chance to dust off their bowling shoes, and shake off the rust, just like Doc Hudson, the Hudson Hornet racing around Carburetor Canyon. Whether you dominated the lanes or just remembered how to properly enter your scores, I hope it was a practical method to ease back into the magic of league play.
Incredi-Bowls: Heroes Return
If anyone came out of the gate looking like they never left, it was the Incredi-Bowls. Rumor has it they stayed in fighting shape during the offseason, despite the superhero ban. Shelby Garcia picked up right where he left off, leading the squad with confidence. But the real shockwave came from rookie Vu Van, who stunned the league with an eye-popping 790, the highest point total under the new handicap system! Vu’s powers remain a mystery, but with sand mysteriously appearing on the lanes after every game, some are whispering that his abilities might be... sand-derived. Did the Incredi-bowls find a magical lamp in the deserts of Agrabah? Or did Vu just track in sand from the beaches of Motunui. Time will tell.
Joy Reunited: Pinside Out's Emotional Win
We were thrilled to welcome back Lyn to the lanes last week! With her return, Pinside Out was clearly running high on Joy. Lyn’s Top 5 finish helped propel the team to a full 7-point sweep, a strong reminder that every emotion counts, but Joy bowls strikes. Great to have you back, Lyn!
Cool Runnings: Still Thawing Out
Not every team found their rhythm in Week 1. Cool Runnings looked as though they were creating a national bobsledding team for a tropical, island nation that has never seen an ounce of snow in their lives. But hey, remember, it's not about how you start—it’s about how you finish. This squad has a solid veteran presence, and once they find their mired, ex-pat, award winning coach, we expect them to bounce back. Possibly in style.
Lyin’ Kings: Hakuna Matata or Trouble in the Gorge?
On paper, the Lyin’ Kings boast one of the burliest rosters in the league, but Week 1 proved to be less “Circle of Life” and more gorge tragedy. Perhaps the Lyin’ Kings was named after Mufasa was found lyin’ down in the gorge after being caught in a massive wildebeest stampede. They walked away from week 1 with a goose egg. But here's hoping it sparks the rise of Simba, because if we know anything about Pride Rock, it's that comebacks are written in the stars.
---------------------------------------
Now let's look ahead to week 2, the first week of head to head matchups!
Cool Runnings vs The Incredi-Bowls
Cool Runnings will get a mere 21-pin head start each game, and they’ll need every bit of it to win this race against the Incredi-Bowls. Led by Dash Garcia and the mysterious Vu Van (who may or may not be smuggling sand from Agrabah), the Incredi-Bowls are coming out of week 1 hot. But if Cool Runnings can channel their raw potential, they might just give the heroes a run for their money.
Pinside Out vs The Demigods
This one’s a battle of brains vs. brawn. Pinside Out is getting 4 pins per game, an astonishingly close match-up on paper considering that the Demigods were outscored by nearly 200 pins at the end of week 1. The Demigods will have to dig deep and “go the distance” if they hope to survive the emotional storm of teenage angst coming their way.
Roar Omega Roar vs The Lyin’ Kings
The Lyin’ Kings, fresh off a tough trampling last week, will get 27 pins per game and are looking for redemption. But standing in their way is the ever-intimidating Roar Omega Roar. The Lyin’ Kings may have been down like Mufasa in the gorge, but don’t count them out yet, Simba’s still got a roar left in him, and we all know how that story ends.
Big Strike 4 vs The Goof Troop
In what might be the quirkiest matchup of the night, Big Strike 4 is coming in with a massive 72-pin advantage. The Goof Troop is a team that is used to adversity. Currently rostering 2 reigning champions, The Goof Troop have a lot of heart and a ton of fight to overcome the handicap.
Good luck to all our teams tonight!
Whether you're bowling with superpowers, raw emotion, or pure goofiness, remember: every frame is a chance for a little magic. Let the pins fall where they may, and we’ll see you tonight at the lanes!
